Templates in UMContent

UMContent is the University's web-based content management system providing site developers with a central repository for managing Web content and tools for developing and maintaining Web sites. Templates and site content is viewed and modified for UMContent using Site Studio software.

Code for all-CSS and table-based templates is available in UMContent by using layouts and fragments. UMContent layouts provide a skeleton framework, while UMContent fragments provide sections of code such as the template header and footer.

In addition, all data is stored with UMContent metadata, not to be confused with the metadata in the head section of a Web page. UMContent metadata goes beyond the template metadata and allows content to be reused in dynamic lists and on multiple Web pages.

To use the templates in UMContent you will need an account and Web site set up with OIT, and Site Studio software. At this time all development in Site Studio must be done on Windows. To set up new access, request a site, or download software, see the UMContent support site.
