Keep private issues and topics private. Share media (text, photos, videos, audio) Carry on live discussions Send “instant” messages Share and edit documents Launch a site only with the approval of your supervisor. Keep your contact information accurate and up-to-date. Carefully manage the password and access to your site. Reply to comments when appropriate, and do so promptly. Consult with your collegiate or departmental communications leaders before initiating any University business on an "outside" site to make sure that your efforts fit within a cohesive and consistent communications plan.
When using an outside site to conduct U of M business, don't use your personal University (umn.edu) e-mail address.

Use "University of Minnesota" as part of your profile name. This will make it easier for people to find you and understand which university your unit is part of. Don't abbreviate the University's name (U of M, UMN, etc.) as there are other universites with the same initials. Use a profile graphic that supports University identification.
